At Anderson Circle Farm, our Feed/Grain program is focused on producing high quality feed for the cattle program with the surplus being marketed locally. Additionally, we utilize soybeans and wheat for weed management and the production of straw for a very strong local market.
We have been utilizing grain varieties that have traits specific to yielding high quality feeds. Variety selection is based on producing the most high quality nutrients per acre and not simply the highest yielding. In 2006 over 1,000 acres was seeded to forage to expand cattle grazing opportunities.
