Walnut Hall
Welcome to Walnut Hall, the Anderson Circle Farm residence of Ralph and Ruth Anderson. Walnut Hall was the first major restoration effort by Ralph and Ruth, and as a result of their efforts, it is now on the National Park Services’ National Register of Historic Places. Restoration was started in 1985 and completed in 1986.

In March 1985, Ralph and Ruth purchased two additional farms, the Kennedy and Gregory Farms. The acquisition of the Gregory Farm was of significant importance for it was the site of Walnut Hall, a Greek Revival house constructed during the 1840’s.

David W. Thompson was the original owner and builder of Walnut Hall. Construction of the house was started circa 1840, and it is reported that construction lasted for a period of five years, one year alone to construct the stone foundation. Walnut Hall is perhaps the earliest of the three Greek Revival houses constructed in Mercer County within a few years and few miles of one another. No common builder's or architect's name has surfaced, but there are many similarities in the design and construction of the three houses.
